Spotlight :
Good record here and run some fine races at the festival the last three years, third in the Triumph Hurdle three years ago, fourth in the Pertemps in 2008 and far from disgraced in the World Hurdle 12 months ago; been a learning curve since switched to fences but hardly put a foot wrong at Plumpton latest (without usual tongue-tie, back on here) and has a touch of class for race like this.

Spotlight :
Going the right way, not many got into it behind him when wide-margin winner at Fairyhouse last month, though task eased greatly by fall of closest pursuer (wide-margin winner since); further improvement expected and the right sort for the race so one of the more interesting ones.

Spotlight :
Not been foolproof regarding jumping but improving stayer who has had his say in competitive handicaps against more-experienced rivals, including at about 3m1f here in December; going to relish the big step up in trip and plenty going for him.

Spotlight :
Best hurdle form on offer, in staying novice events two years ago and often acquitted himself well in top company last winter; shown promise over fences this winter without totally convincing with his jumping but penny might yet drop and wouldn't rule out improvement upped in trip.

Spotlight :
Among the leading novice chasers in Ireland two winters ago but off for nearly a year after decent British debut at Sandown in December 2008; run only twice since, had to work hard to win at Hexham in December, though time likely to show he did well against highly promising novice; heart in the right place and should be involved.

Spotlight :
Decent staying novice hurdler at best last winter; not the smoothest of transitions to fences, often seemed to lose confidence in his jumping, though more economical round against decent and experienced handicappers in first-time blinkers at Sandown latest; should stay and not hard to make case.

Spotlight :
Front-runner who's done virtually all his racing in the mud but coming along nicely over fences and showed dour staying qualities when winning at Bangor latest; form not up to much but making up into nice prospect, even if others have less to prove on the ground.

Spotlight :
Talented enough but didn't find as much as expected when well-backed favourite for Kim Muir at this meeting last year (ground said to have been too tacky), nor did he see out 4m on slower ground at Kelso in December; finally won his first chase at Catterick latest, somewhat luckily, and a little to prove, though trainer always respected at the meeting and won this race in 2006.

Spotlight :
Hasn't won for over two years but stout stayer who excelled himself when third in the Pertemps here last year; not achieved as much as some over fences this winter but will appreciate return to better ground and today's race been mentioned as a target for a long time by trainer who won this two years ago; good chance of improvement now tackling longer trip and on the premises.

Spotlight :
Improved over hurdles in minor company last spring and taken quite well to fences without achieving nearly as much as some of today's rivals; this is a tough test at relatively early stage in career.

Spotlight :
Unproven over stamina test (not at best when tried over 4m1f in a hunter chase here two years ago) but made great strides in minor handicap chases lately, another great round of jumping when successful at Huntingdon last week; these undulations will provide a stiffer test and weights against him but sound jumping a big asset and not disgraced.

Spotlight :
Winning pointer who's taken well enough to fences since going chasing last May, mostly at about 2m4f in the mud (though acts on better ground); doubt he's got the firepower for race like this even if he stays the trip.

Spotlight :
Excelled himself since back from an absence this winter and best performance yet the only time he's tried as far as 3m, solid form in beating a promising subsequent winner at Newbury in December; slightly worrying he's never been campaigned as a stayer in more than three years chasing and a step into the unknown over this far.

Seems to stay well enough but had a couple of low-key days since his Exeter win during November and no real grounds for thinking he has more to come after a relatively quiet run at Wincanton latest; others have more going for them on form.
