Gale Force Ten is a leading contender on his French and Irish Guineas form. Admittedly he saw the 1m trip out well both times and may not be crying out for a return to shorter but this stiff test at the distance should be fine, along with a likely decent pace in this big field. However, preference is for GARSWOOD, who has the best piece of 7f form on offer, namely his impressive success in the Free Handicap on his sole attempt at the distance. Things didn't go his way in the 2,000 Guineas next time and he's worth another chance. The progressive Montiridge also figures highly in calculations, while the unbeaten Mutin looks the most intriguing runner among the French quartet.[Steve Boow]

A very good renewal in which DUNTLE and Chigun may be the two to concentrate on, ahead of the progressive Dank. Chigun's improved win in a Curragh Group 3 last time entitles her to considerable respect but Duntle proved herself at Group 1 level when first past the post in last season's Matron Stakes at Leopardstown, also won over C&D here last year and, with more possibly still to come, she is preferred. Five Group 1 winners are in opposition but it still looks just an average renewal, without some of the stars who have contested some recent runnings. AL KAZEEM (nap) has shrugged off injury to return better than ever this season and, on his defeat of Camelot in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh last time, is very much the one to beat. Al Kazeem's progressive profile suggests there may be more to come now too. Camelot may well progress as the season goes on though and is readily preferred as the main danger, with Red Cadeaux the pick of those at bigger prices and taken to claim third, ahead of The Fugue. The more reliable pace seems to be among the high numbers, particularly with Spa's Dancer who has serious each-way claims, and this will be a boost to the chance of DIRECTORSHIP who can unleash an impressive late burst from off the pace and is in the form of his life. Field Of Dream, with the blinkers restored, is likely to arrive on the scene even later but overdid the slow start when fourth in this 12 months ago. Last year's first Prince Of Johanne, second Excellent Guest and third Don't Call Me all return in good form, with Prince Of Johanne on the same mark as last year and therefore definitely on the shortlist. He is among the low numbers, along with the big ante-post mover Stirring Ballad who seems to bring the most potential, followed in that category by Trade Commissioner.[Richard Austen]

  • William Hill TV  William Hill TV

It is too early to suggest that market leader Beldale Memory is ground dependent but both runs have been on softer than good and rain would be reassuring. There are plenty of unexposed/progressive alternatives who are already proven on a sound surface, with fellow Listed winner RIZEENA particularly appealing. Fire Blaze's Newmarket race (in which the selection did well to get so close after a very tardy start) has worked out well, while Oriel looks the pick of the Hannon quartet. American raider Sweet Emma Rose is among several others with possibilities.[Steve Boow]

6/1 SP
Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Eyecatching fifth to Fire Blaze at Newmarket on debut when spoiled chance with tardy start and finished strongly; won maiden at this track (good to firm; beat Oriel) and Listed contest at Sandown (good to soft; made all, quickened clear in decent style); progressing nicely and looks a strong contender.

 8/1 7/1 SP
Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Defied weakness in the betting to make a winning debut at York (good to firm) last Friday, recording a respectable RPR; looks promising but the obvious concern is that she's going back to the well too soon; owner also represented by Rizeena.

Spotlight
8/1 SP
Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Bags of promise on both starts (favourite both times), runner-up to Rizeena at this track then third to Alutiq at Newbury, where she would have gone close at the very least but for meeting plenty of trouble; jockey arrangements suggest she's the pick of the Hannon quartet and could play a big role granted better luck.

Distance Winner Spotlight
10/1 SP
Racing Post Logo   Spotlight :  Looks a bargain buy at only 3,000euros judged on her very easy success at Chepstow (soft) on debut; probably didn't beat a great deal but could do no more than win by 7l (recorded a pretty useful RPR); looks open to any amount of improvement; one of four runners for Richard Hannon.
