Luca Cumani is the handicap master at this meeting and his Havana Cooler must have chances of improving on close sixth in the Old Newton Cup and his top class effort when third to the Group rated Arab Spring in the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot. Increase in trip sure to suit.
Has been a model of consistency this year, with 1 win, two seconds and two fourths from five starts. Most recently fourth in the Northumberland Plate when checked at a vital time as he was starting her run. Has finished in the first three thirteen times from nineteen career races and sure to be battling all the way.
Deserved to win a big race. Has run some blinding races in handicap, listed and group company. Lost 12 lengths at the start and still only touched off in a Listed race at Sandown last time and previously a superb third in the Northumberland Plate. Could be the class in the race.
Ran some excellent races prior to getting his nose in-front last time out in the Listed John Smith’s Silver Cup handicap at York. Just 2lb higher in the weights and Joe Fanning, who was in the saddle at York, is again riding. Must have chances if in the same form.
