Heavy-ground hurdle winner; switch to chasing yielded two 3m wins and he ended last term with a tenacious second over 4m2f in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter (6lb higher today); went a bit freely at Cheltenham on return three weeks ago and shaped as if in need of the race; type to resume improvement.

Final leg of his hat-trick (3m-3m4f) last winter came on heavy ground at this track, before his remote second in the 4m1f Eider at Newcastle; encouraging third at Carlisle five weeks ago should set him up for a big run.

Ran poorly last winter but emerged in the spring to win at Chepstow and Cheltenham (3m4f) before completing his hat-trick with another Chepstow win in October; all three of those were on good or good to firm but he did score on soft as a hurdler in March 2024; raised another 8lb but has more improvement in him if the ground is okay.

5-21 in points and now two big days under rules at Cheltenham, winning a 4m hunter chase (good) in May and 16-runner handicap over 3m1f (heavy) three weeks ago; up 6lb but this step back up in trip can help him make further progress.

Last winter's wins on soft ground at Plumpton came with waiting tactics over 3m1f and 3m4f, latterly in the Sussex National; showed his wellbeing to win a three-runner race from the front here four weeks ago over just 2m4f, so it's reasonable to hope for more improvement over further than that for stable which had a fine day here yesterday.

First attempt at a marathon trip produced a remote finish over 3m6f at the Cheltenham Festival (25-1) last term, having won twice in that first campaign over fences; stable is in good form and he was a respectable second over 3m6f at Exeter (soft) yesterday.

Has taken well to fences on his last four starts and particularly with blinkers on last three; further progress is likely this season now that he has a run under his belt; won a hurdle race over an extended 3m1f on heavy ground in February 2024, so looks worth this first go at a marathon trip.
