Commonwealth Games Betting with William Hill
The Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations - a political association of 53 member states, nearly all of which are former territories of the British Empire.
The first Commonwealth Games was held in 1930 and the event has taken place every four years since.
From 1930 to 1950 they were known as the British Empire Games, from 1954 to 1966 the British Empire and Commonwealth Games and from 1970 to 1974 the British Commonwealth Games.
It's the world's first multi-sport event to have an equal number of women's and men's medal events, implemented in the 2018 version held on the Gold Coast in Australia.
As well as many Olympic sports, the Commonwealth Games also include some sports which are played predominantly in Commonwealth countries, but which aren't part of the Olympic programme, such as cricket, netball, squash and lawn bowls.

Over 5,000 athletes compete at the Commonwealth Games across more than 15 different sports and more than 250 events.
The first, second and third-place finishers in each event receive Commonwealth Games medals - gold, silver and bronze respectively.
A total of 19 cities across nine countries have hosted the event. Australia has hosted the Commonwealth Games five times, the most of any nation, while two cities have hosted twice - Auckland and Edinburgh.
Although there are currently 53 members of the Commonwealth, a total of 71 teams participate in the Games, with a number of dependent territories competing under their own flags.
The four Home Nations of the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – have separate teams.

Notable Commonwealth Games participants
South Africa's most decorated swimmer Chad le Clos equalled Australian shooter Phillip Adams' record of 17 Commonwealth Games medals at the 2018 competition.
Le Clos added three golds, a silver and a bronze medal to his total haul across three Commonwealth Games.
Adams shot his way to seven golds, eight silvers and two bronzes across four successive competitions.
Aussie swimmer Ian Thorpe landed 10 gold medals in the pool, as well as one silver. At the 2002 Games in Manchester he took home six golds and a silver medal.
Nauruan weightlifter Marcus Stephen won 12 medals (seven gold) at the Games between 1990 and 2002, leading to him becoming elected President of Nauru in 2007. Nauru is the smallest independent state in the Commonwealth.
Northern Ireland's David Calvert has competed in 11 Commonwealth Games, in 2018 surpassing eight-time competitor lawn bowler Robert Weale from Wales.
One of the most magical moments witnessed at the Commonwealth Games came in 1954, when England's Roger Bannister and Australian John Landy created history with the famous ‘Miracle Mile' – both breaking the four-minute mile in the same race.
English actor Jason Statham took part at the 1990 Commonwealth Games as a diver.
