Bet on Ladies Day With William Hill

Day 2 - Wednesday 14 March

Bet on 2018 Ladies Day with William Hill

Ladies’ Day at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival will fall on Wednesday 14th March. It is Day 2 of the four-day horse racing festival held at Cheltenham Racecourse, Gloucestershire. It comes after Champion Day (Day 1, 13th March), and before St Patrick’s Day (Day 3, 15th March) and Gold Cup Day (Day 4, 16th March). The first race of Ladies’ Day is the Neptune Investment Hurdle (also known as Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle), which sets off at 13.30pm. However, the highlight of Ladies’ Day is the Queen Mother Champion Chase (15.30pm). Last year it was won by Special Tiara, who surprised the crowds by defeating a field that included red-hot favourite Douvan.

2018 Ladies Day Betting at Cheltenham Festival with William Hill

There will be seven horse races held on Ladies Day 2018 at Cheltenham, three of which are Grade 1 contests. Much of the focus will be on the Queen Mother Champion Chase, with many fans hoping that Douvan can bounce back after last year’s disappointment. He limped to a disappointing finish in that race, but trainer Willie Mullins later revealed that Douvan was carrying a slight injury.

The prospect of jockey Ruby Walsh riding a fully-fit Douvan to take on talent like Special Tiara and 2017 Arkle winner Altior could make the Champion Chase one of the highlights of the festival. The other two Grade 1 races, the RSA Chase and Neptune Investment Hurdle, are always fiercely contested. There is plenty of speculation that Gordon Elliott’s unbeaten Samcro could line up for the Neptune Investment Hurdle. The gelding has a big future in front of him and could certainly make his mark at Cheltenham 2018.

Cheltenham Ladies Day - 2017 Results & Winners

Just like the opening day of the 2017 Cheltenham Festival, Ladies’ Day had its fair share of shock results. Willoughby Court opened the day with a fine win ahead of Neon Wolf in the Neptune Investment Management Hurdle. Nico De Boinville then rode Might Bite to victory in the Grade 1 RSA Chase. Another long-odds winner, Supasundae, made the punters happy with a win in the Handicap Hurdle. The shocks continued when Special Tiara romped home in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, which left fans of the mighty Douvan wondering what might have been. Top amateur jockey Jamie Codd took both the Champion Bumper and Cross Country Chase to put a smile on trainer Gordon Elliott’s face. Richard Johnson also got in on the action, riding 33-1 shot Flying Tiger to a big win in the Fred Winter.
