Cheltenham Ladies Day

Tips to succeed at Cheltenham Festival’s Ladies’ Day 2018

Day 2 - Wednesday 14 March

What’s on during Cheltenham’s Ladies' Day

Racing begins at 13:30 on Wednesday 14th March with the race regularly referred to as the Neptune, but now known as the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. One of the biggest talking horses of the season is due to head the betting in the shape of Samcro.

This is followed by the RSA Chase at 14:10, before the Coral Cup at 14:50. A good Coral Cup Cheltenham tip in recent years has been to back a horse trained in Ireland, as these horses have won the last two renewals.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase is the big race of the day at 15:30, before the unique test of the Cross Country Chase at 16:10, the ultra competitive Fred Winter Hurdle at 16:50 and then finally the Champion Bumper at 17:30.

Altior tops the Champion Chase betting

Altior has been a successful Cheltenham Festival tip in each of the last two years, winning the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in 2016 and then the Arkle Trophy last year.

This year he makes the switch from running on day one to day two of the Festival as the clear favourite in the Champion Chase. His position as the clear favourite in the Champion Chase betting is more than justified as he is unbeaten in his last 12 races.

Willie Mullins pair Douvan and Min are widely expect to present the stiffest competition, while the 2017 Champion Chase winner Special Tiara is back in search of another unexpected Cheltenham result.

How to bet on your Ladies’ Day tips

You can download the William Hill App to place any bet at the Cheltenham Festival, while you also have the option of going into one of our shops or betting online.

Not only will you be able to view odds on all 28 Cheltenham Festival races, but you’ll also be able to check out any specials markets that have been created or offers that can be put to good use.

Day two of the Cheltenham Festival could be a good one for the Irish, with Samcro, Presenting Percy and Cause Of Causes likely to be feature prominently in any multiples and Cheltenham accumulators.

The winners and results from Ladies’ Day 2017

Betting on favourites failed to prove a profitable strategy on the second day of the 2017 Festival, with Might Bite the only market leader to do the honours.

Instead, it was those from further down the Cheltenham betting markets that proved surprise winners. Willoughby Court (14/1), Supasundae (16/1) and Flying Tiger (33/1) were the pick of them.

If you want a tip for an outsider at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival it may be best to focus on the Fred Winter Hurdle. These are the starting prices of the most recent winners: 33/1, 13/2, 25/1, 33/1, 25/1 and 40/1.
