Betting online at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival

The 2019 Cheltenham Festival will take place over four days from Tuesday 12^th March until Friday 15^th March. There are 28 races run over the four days, broken down into seven each day.

Kicking things off is the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, with the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle closing the betting for another year.

2018 Cheltenham winners back in 2019

Seven horses that won at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival are set to return in 2019 to defend their titles.

Five are among the favourites to repeat their victory, with these being Buveur D’Air (Champion Hurdle), Benie Des Dieux (Mares’ Hurdle), Altior (Champion Chase), Tiger Roll (Cross Country), Penhill (Stayers’ Hurdle) and Native River (Cheltenham Gold Cup).

The one exception comes in the betting for the Foxhunters, with Pacha Du Polder lining up for the fourth straight year. He was ridden to finish fifth by Olympic gold-medallist cyclist Victoria Pendleton in 2016, before being steered to victory by Bryony Frost in 2017 and Miss Harriet Tucker last year.

The Cheltenham weather

Much has been made about how the weather at Cheltenham can impact the chances of runners. Some like the ground quicker, others prefer rain in the ground to ensure that it’s more of a slog.

It’s the latter that are expected to get their way in 2019, with occasional rain predicted on each of the four days of the 2019 Cheltenham Festival.

It may pay to look for Cheltenham tips focused on horses that have previous form on soft going and prefer more of a stamina test than a speed one.

How to get to Cheltenham

By bus – Look to use Stagecoach services D and E, the Service 527 from Cheltenham Centre or a dedicated racecourse bus service from Cheltenham Spa Station to the racecourse.

By train – Plan in advance but the best plan is to get to Cheltenham Spa, which is about a 10-minute taxi journey from the course. Cheltenham Spa can be reached by train from locations including London, Bristol and Birmingham.

By coach – The National Express can be used from 21 different locations across the UK and will leave after all of the racing is complete.

Parking Tips - The parking scheme at the racecourse is colour coded, with yellow signs introduced nearby to help with directions. Getting to the course early is advised to avoid the likelihood of getting stuck in heavy traffic.

Costs – Parking booked in advance costs £12. It is £20 on the day.

Electric vehicles – There are two charging points near the Hall Of Fame entrance. Check availability in advance.

Follow the Cheltenham dress code

The Cheltenham dress code is that there is no dress code.

However, fancy dress is not allowed in the Club Enclosure. Men typically wear suits and women tend to wear hats, but everyone is advised to dress with the weather in mind.
